The P in OVP stands for Protection
ovp relay
First take a look if the ABS light is on, if yes, check your OVP relay.
ac/heater does not come on, no buttons light up except the resetbutton and it blinks and then goes out when pushed
Solved... Only happened in the mornings with heavy dew. Cleaned and tighened battery terminals.
Behind a plastic shroud in back of the battery, along with the kilma relay the computers and the OVP relay.
that could be over voltage protection relay failure, check ovp behind battery bay, behind plastic cover at fire wall. there should be 1-2 fuses depending on model yours should have two. if fuse is blown replace and try again. if no fuse is blown try replaceing ovp. they are cheap.
It probably just needed an OVP (over voltage protection) relay that directly behind the battery and only cost about 89.00. It's also possible only the 10amp fuse is blow in the OVP. This is especially likely if your ABS light is also on. Exactly the problem I have with my 89 190E 2.6.
Behind a plastic cover in back of the battery, it is a black box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. One is the fuel pump relay the other is the kilma or climate control relay. You will see the fused OVP relay also.
This is your OVP (Over Volt Protection) relay. It will probably fail completely eventually. I think they're about £135 (part no 201 540 32 45) to replace. It's the small metal relay box between the engine and cabin bulkheads, close to the wiper pivots - easy to replace yourself.
if its a 116 engine, that is, it has one air intake on the passanger side to the air filter then the relay is on the firewall, on the left looking at the engine is the ecu, big black thick connector on it, next to it directly on the right is the fuel pump relay, maybe marked kickdown, next to that klima, for ac, next to that ovp overvoltage protection. if u have 2 air intakes for 117 engine let me know, I can look in my books for you.
