The Forever stamp is not to be used for postage overseas. If you are mailing a letter to a soldier, and using the APO box, normal rates apply. You would be able to use a Forever stamp for that letter.

Can you still use the forever postage stamps to send mail or do you have to add more postage?

The entire purpose of the Forever Stamps was that you can use them for one ounce of First Class Postage forever. No additional postage is necessary.

Are forever stamps equal to 0.47 stamps?

Forever stamps have the value of the current First Class Postage Rate. Currently they cost 49 cents. They can be used 'forever' to mail one ounce of US Postage.

Are the forever postage stamps good for the new increase?

That is the purpose of the Forever Stamps. They always equal the first class cost. It does not matter what you pay for them.

Is there a postage price change in 2011?

It is expected that there will be an increase. Most of the First Class stamps currently available are Forever stamps. They will be valid after the postage rate goes up.

Why are the first Forever stamps no longer being honored as sufficient postage?

There is only one Forever Stamp, it pictures the US Liberty Bell and says First Class Postage. It is good only for the first ounce of a letter, anything more in weight requires additional postage. There are many other non-denominated stamps that may say First Class Postage, but they are not Forever Stamps, they were created for a specific rate. These stamps are still valid for that amount of postage, but they must be supplemented to make the full rate necessary.

What is on a first class letter?

Enough stamps to equal first class postage of 49 cents, or a Forever stamp. It will also have an address.

Do you have to add postage to stamps bought last year?

Maybe, depending on where you are and when "last year" was. The US postal service began a few years ago issuing "forever" stamps that are first-class postage "forever" ... that is, they can be used to mail a first-class letter even if the cost of first-class postage goes up. These will say "forever" on them, and will not have a denomination other than that. They're priced at whatever the current first-class postage rate is. If a stamp does have a denomination on it, that's the value of the stamp. If that's insufficient for current postage rates, you will need to add stamps to make up the difference.

Can you use the forever liberty bell stamp for current first class postage?

Yes. The Liberty Bell Forever stamps can be used at the current First Class rate forever... hence the name "Forever stamp". They are worth whatever the current First Class rate is. For example, the rate currently (Dec. 2010) is $0.44. The Forever stamps are worth that amount right now, even if they were purchased at a lower rate before the increase in May 2009. If the rate would happen to increase again, the Forever stamps would be valued at whatever the new rate would be, whether they are purchased before or after the increase.

What is the value of the forever stamps?

Whatever the current First Class postage rate is. In March of 2012, that is 45 cents.

I have first class forever stamps how many should you use to mail from US to Sweden?

You cannot use Forever stamps on postage outside the US. The rate of one ounce of international First Class Mail is 98 cents.

Can you still use a first class stamp regardless of the rate increase?

The Forever Stamps can still be used for a single ounce of first class postage. Other first class stamps can be used for their value, but additional postage must be added to it to make the current rate.

Can you use recently purchased stamps now postage has gone up?

In the US postage stamps are always valid. You do still have to have enough to cover the current postage cost. And Forever stamps are always valid for one ounce of first class mail, regardless of the actual cost.
