If you mean actual islands, not much is known about how many planets have surfaces that would allow such islands to form.If you mean islands in the sense of galaxies, there are probably somewhere between 10^11 and 10^12 (ten to the power 11 and ten to the power 12) galaxies in the OBSERVABLE Universe. It is not known how large the entire Universe it; it may or may not be infinite.
