She has only won once, but she was nominated another five times. Her first nomination was in 1959 for Some Came Running. She was nominated again in 1961 (The Apartment), in 1964 (Irma la Douce), in 1976 (The Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir) and in 1978 (The Turning Point). In 1984 she finally won for Terms of Endearment. All her nominations were for Best Actress in a Leading Role, except for The Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir which was nominated for Best Documentary Feature.
