Not often, not many adult mortals are worthy of the honor. This is not advertised or generally well known and great measures are taken to protect internal security, such as never having 2 of them close together but accidents have happened. The good news is they are authorized to speak for him however have lesser powers. On occasion a large gathering of children near Christmastime (such as at a mall) will merit an appearance by the man himself or a designee. The presence of elves/sleigh and or reindeer would be a tip off you have the head man. As an aside different countries use different names for Santa, but all referring to same.
