The USSR broke up in 1991 into 15 separate countries. They would all have been 1 single socialist country prior to that.
There were fifteen.
After the October Revolution, Russia became the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic. In December 1922, it joined with Ukraine, Belorussia and the Transcaucasus Federation (Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan) to form the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
1991 The USSR did not "turn into Russia." The USSR was a collection of many separate republics into one nation much like the United States is a collection of individual states into one nation. In 1991, the USSR broke up into 15 separate nations one of which was the Russian Federation.
Soviet Socialist republics were semi-autonomous entities under the authority of the Communist Party from around 1921 until the break up of the Soviet Union in 1991. "Soviet" means council, in theory consisting of workers. "Socialist" implies that the means of production as well as certain service services are controlled and administered by the state. "Republic" meaning a representative form of government. Russia was the most prominent of all the Soviet Socialist Republics but there were many others. After the dissolution of the USSR many of the former Soviet Republics became independent states, such as Latvia, Estonia, and Kazakhstan.
In 1922, under Lenin's leadership, Russia was officially divided into four republics, which included the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, the Ukrainian SSR, the Belarusian SSR, and the Transcaucasian SFSR. This division marked the formation of the Soviet Union, officially known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). The creation of the USSR aimed to consolidate power and promote communist ideology across the diverse regions of the former Russian Empire. Over time, the union expanded to include several additional republics.
I think you mean the Soviet Union. This was a group of countries united around Russia, the largest Soviet Republic (the full name of the Soviet Union is the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, or USSR). It included a bunch of countries including Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and a whole bunch of other republics. The USSR no longer exists, and many of the former soviet republics are independent nations now. Some are loosely united into the Confederation of Independent States (CIS). Hope this helps!
Russia primarily, and many smaller countries
There were 15 republics in the Soviet Union: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorussia ( Belarus), Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia (see Kyrgyzstan), Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia (Moldova), Russia, Tadzhikistan (Tajikistan), Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan
The Allies consisted of Britain, France, USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republics-Now Russia), The USA (From 1941 onwards) and countries such as Australia and Canada which were colonies of the main members.
The USSR had been composed of 16 republics, all of which became independent nations.
The Soviet Union was an assembly of Socialist states dating from the 1920s to its eventual dissolution in 1991. Although the Soviet Union and Russia are not the same place, Moscow, the Russian capital was the centre of the Soviet government with Leningrad (St. Petersburg), another Russian city, serving as in many instances the 2nd most influential city. Additionally, the Russian Revolutionaries that dissolved the Russian monarchy in 1917, led by Vladimir Illyich (Lenin), known as the Bolsheviks, would lead the eventual assembly and creation of the USSR (Soviet Union)
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was essentially Russia under communist rule from 1917 to the 1990's, with the addition of some smaller states. Post WW2 Russia dominated Eastern Europe with the Warsaw Pact countries. Lenin, Stalin, Kreuschev,Gorbachev & Yeltsyn are major political figures.
