Friends actually STM-1 contains 84 T1, because:

STM-1 contains 3x TUG3 (Tributary unit groups).

Each TUG3 contains 7x TUG2.

Each TUG2 contains 4x TU11

TU11 - contains VC11 and VC11contains T1 as payload.

Then 3x7x4=84 T1.
