Air miles are not an official unit of measurement. There are land or statute Miles, of 5280 Feet, and Nautical Miles (Knots) of 6070 feet, the latter used for maritime purposes. as this flight is overwater, perhaps the Nautical Miles would be used. there is no statutory (Air Miles) one might figure mileage in pilot logs, but this would be statue if over land and nautical if over sea. some speedometers -all o international flightsd are callibrated in Knots, heeding the latter unit. there is no (Air Miles) Miles by air would be a straight line and more direct than highways which have curvature of mountainous passes. but there is no unit called an Air Mile.
