PATCO is the name of the union that went on strike. Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization. It is still a union to this day and represents contract air traffic control towers. To work in air traffic control, you must have an endless amount of knowledge of air traffic control laws, rules, and regulations. You also must have 52 consecutive weeks of air traffic control experience in a military or civilian air traffic control facility.
