Volts would always be 120. Watts would be between 100-300 watts depending upon the power and speed of the motor. Also add wattage for the 3-4 bulbs if you use them (ie 40 or 60 watt bulbs).

How many amps will a 260 ohms resistor on a 120 volt circuit use?

Just use Ohm's Law Voltage = Current x Resistance Amps = Voltage Divided By Resistance Amps = 120 / 260

Can you run fan on dc?

If you mean by that a normal home ceiling fan, No, you can't. Because it is an AC motor inside that. If you use fans using DC motors ,motors like the ones used in many toys for example or the ones used inside the earlier cassette or vcr tape drives, yes ,you can use DC.

How much electrical energy does electric fan with a power rating of 100 watts use in 1 hour?

It varies tremendously depending upon the size of the fan and the power of the motor. The best way to answer your question would probably be to look at the back of the fan, or on the bottom. It usually will tell how many watts the fan draws. If it only tell amps and volts, remember that watts = amps X volts. Remember that watts does not have a time component; so to say that it draws a certain number of watts in an hour is not correct. You should rather ask, "How many watt-hours does it consume in an hour?" That is the number of watts times the number of hours that it drew that number of watts.

Problem this fan draws 30 amps for an instant to start then settles to 10 amps Can a capacitor be used in line to take the load off the switch and provide the extra amps needed to start the fan?

Not really, unless you have a capacitor start type of motor. Capacitors can be very hazardous if improperly connected to mains power and I wouldn't suggest your trying it if you're not experienced or qualified. Best bet is just to get a heavier swicth or use a heavy duty switching relay.

Can I connect a 12v 35 amp lead acid battery with my 600w computer ups to run my ceiling fan for 2 hours?

yes uou can use but you have to use external battery charger 13.5 v-15 v, 5 amp charger .

How many amps are in a ceiling fan?

The fan itself might use 40 Watts, add to that the power used by the lamps (maybe 3*50 Watts) and the sum is just under 200 W when all the lamps are lit. So under one Ampere in the example given.

How much input current is being provided to ceiling fans?

If you can find the wattage of the fan and you know the voltage of the fan use the following equation. Amps = watts/volts.

Can you use a ceiling fan switch on a 12 volt motor?

yes it should do as long as its not using more than 30 amps if its a big motor then it would burn out eventually

How many watts of electricity does a ceiling fan use?

Not very much... A large ceiling fan (approx 56" in diameter) uses about 85 watts.

What do you use to connect the electrical wires when fitting a ceiling fan or ceiling light?

Wire nuts

Where was the ceiling fan invented?

An electric ceiling fan was invented by the man who had engineered the electric motor used in the first Singer sewing machines, Philip Diehl. In 1882 he adapted that motor for use in a ceiling-mounted fan.

Why did Philip Diehl invent the ceiling fan?

for some use

How do you use capicitor in FAN?

The capacitor in a ceiling fan is a small fuse like device which helps the fan to slow down or rotate faster. It is normally inserted into the ceiling unit of fan just about the fins.

How much energy does a ceiling fan use when operating?

This makes no sense.

What is the best ceiling fan for outdoor use?

There is a specific type of ceiling fan made for outdoor use. Outside ceiling fans are made with protective coatings and material to protect the motor casing to keep out moisture and other outdoor elements that could cause a regular, indoor fan to stop working.
