You breathe helium out pretty quickly when you inhale it. In order for the effect to last the rest of your life, you'd need to breathe enough helium to be able to breathe it out for the rest of your life. Unless "the rest of your life" is measured in seconds (a minute or two at the most), this is impossible.
If you asphyxiate yourself with helium, your voice will sound the same way forever (i.e. silent, since you'll be dead). I'm not certain how many balloons that would take, precisely, since it depends on the volume of the balloons.
Popping and inhaling helium from balloons will not permanently change your voice. The effect of inhaling helium on the vocal cords is temporary and lasts only a few minutes. It is not recommended to inhale helium for prolonged periods as it can be potentially harmful.
helium balloons and make your voice sound weird
Helium is an inert gas and is not harmful to your body. When you breathe it you are depriving your body of oxygen which is harmful. When you inhale it you increase the speed of the sound of your voice, which is why your voice sounds funny.
you breath in the helium (you need to breath it in with out letting it out) and then talk.
they don't, they just give you a high pitched voice
So the blimp will stay aloft/still adn will float.

blowing up balloons making your voice funny
yes! balloons! they make your voice squeak.. hehehe

Try sucking in helium found most commonly in balloons. Only the balloons that need a weight to keep them down have helium in them - because helium is lighter than air. Anyway helium will make your voice sound high- pitched therefore making your voice sound funny. Helium in big intakes can damage your lungs; but don't worry you would have to suck in a lot to damage them.

I don't think helium tastes bad, not to me. All it does is blows up balloons and makes your voice sound like a chipmunk.
It doesn't. But if you swallow helium and hold it in your mouth, your voice sounds mouse-like.
