It is difficult to provide an exact number, as it varies each year and depends on many factors, including the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts and the number of bank robberies committed. However, the FBI reports that clearance rates for bank robberies have been around 60-65% in recent years.

What provides a way to break up large movies into smaller movies that are more manageable?

There are many different ways to do this and what you do is largely a matter of artistic choice. But one way I can think of is to look through the movie and find each place where the conflict comes to a peak and then is (partly) resolved. Then finish each smaller movie at each of these points. For example in a story about a some robbers trying to rob a bank, the first climax and resolution may come when they are discovered trying to break into the bank but after a lengthy find they kill the person who discovered them. It has come to some resolution of conflict (the discoverer is dead and they're inside the bank, step one accomplished), but there is still alot more to be done until they have stolen the money. Other climaxes and resolutions could come when they get the money out of the vault, when they get out of the bank, and when they loose their police pursuers (who have chased them from the bank). So you could have Movie 1: They break into the bank and kill the person who saw them get in. Movie 2: They get the money out of the vault without being noticed. Movie 3: They get out of the bank. Movie 4: They get chased by policemen and loose them. If its a bit hard to find resolution points try thinking about when something is accomplished. In each of the examples above, the bank robbers have accomplished something. Then they have to move on to the next challenge.
