That number reflects only those who are actively engaged in the door-to-door ministry that we are well known for. This does not count those who have become inactive, nor unbaptised children of JW's who are not approved by the congregation to engage in the minstry, nor does it count those who are interested but are simply meeting attenders.

∙ 14y agoThere are no reliable figures publicly available on the number of former Jehovah's Witnesses. Some guide to the extent of the figures can be gained from the following statistics:
* Recent figures show an annual average of about 40,000 disfellowed members worldwide, although disfellowship does not necessarily mean permanent exclusion. * Beckford (1975) found that around one third of second generation Witnesses over 16 failed to maintain membership.

Many would say they are. Quite a few witnesses say "They are glad they are" because before they became JWs their brain was full of dirty thoughts etc. and their brains needed washing! In reality, it takes a huge amount of study to become a witness and they enter and get baptized of their own free will. Many highly intelligent people are witnesses. So the objective answer is no they are not.
