The phrase "Son of God" is mentioned once in the Book of Daniel (King James Version) at 3:25: "He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." The author clearly wanted to create an awe-inspiring impression in describing an angel who looked after the three men in the furnace.
