The answer differs with different models. There are student models, intermediate models, and then there are professional models. It also differs with which Saxophone you're speaking of: the metso-soprano, the soprano, the alto, the tenor, the bari, the bass, or the contra bass.
The Alto Saxophone student model has 22 different keys you can press down, including the octave key. That's just on my instrument, as other people's alto saxophone student models may have extra or fewer keys on theirs. On a professional model for any of these saxophones, it might have one or more extra keys to make certain notes easier to hit, as they are professional players and don't want to mess up on what they're doing.
