There are two. One for the front, and one for the back. I think that they are usually on the driver's side.
Carefully pry pad wear sensor from brake pad. Then insert brake pad wear sensor into cutout in new pad where applicable.
Beind brake drum to replace
just peplace front brake pad and new sensors on my s550 mercede but the sensor light is still on how do i get it to go off
no reset needed, just replace the brake pads sensors
As far asI'm aware it should reset when new wear sensors are installed in the new pads automatically as new wear sensors are required every time they wear down enoug to turn the light on.
If you replaced the sensors and the light is still on, then you have a wiring issue. You will need to check the wires going to the sensors.
After replacing pads and sensors, turn the ignition key on and leave on for approximately 2 minutes. This resets the brake pad wear warning light.
The light will only go off when the circuit fault is repaired. The sensors (clipped into the brake pads) and the wiring from the BCM to them needs to be a complete circuit.
I am going to presume that you mean the sensor. Well, there are wear sensors that are always replaced when replacing brake pads. Now, ABS sensors usually do not requre replacement unless they go bad.
The vehicle does not monitor the amount of brake life you have left nor does the red BRAKE warning light indicate that pads and rotor need replacement. The red BRAKE warning indicator is meant to warn you when there is a dangerous hydraulic problem with your braking system. Take the vehicle to a professional, who know how to service an automotive braking system. On a vehicle with brake pad wear sensors, if the sensors are new, then you have a broken wire.
These wires are normally for the Brake Pad Wear Sensors which tell the ECU ( or Brain !) that the brake pads are worn low and need replacing. I would say VERY important !!!!
If all the sensors and wiring are ok, the light will turn itself off.
