One is on both sides of the mouse,two are in the usual places,N° 4 is not only a button,it's as a normal scroll wheel but works also on the lateral movements.
You can assign whatever function to each and with free software add on like FinderPop you can do more.
You can also use just one button like it was in the beginning.

∙ 11y agoThe common mouse has 2 buttons+ the scroll wheel. Gaming mice have some more. For the one with most buttons available right now is the WarMouse Meta, which has 18 buttons and a joystick. The Cyborg M.M.O. 7 also has 18 buttons (because of its unique 5D button) and a horizontal programmable thumb scroll.

Early mouse controllers had just one button, but all modern standard mouse controllers have at least two primary buttons for left and right click operations, which can often be swapped to suit left or right-handed users although ergonomic mouse controllers are typically designed specifically for left or right-handed users with fixed buttons.
Many modern mouse controllers have three or more buttons. These additional buttons can often be configured to suit the user. Commonly, the middle button is actually a wheel which can be used to scroll up and down pages, but can also act as a configurable third button when depressed. Some controllers may also have additional configurable thumb buttons on one or both sides.
