According to "Titanic, the Ship Magnificent" by Bruce Beveridge, Daniel Klistorner, Scott Andrews, and Steve Hall, for Alternate Second/Third Class there were 40 and for Third Class there were 257.
During the James Cameron special, "Titanic: The Final Word with James Cameron", they give the figures without the alternate staterooms as: Third Class: 297 (the Second/Third Class alternating rooms were added to the Third Class numbers).

3 classes
There were three classes on the Titanic. First class Second class and Third class
There were 3 of them
It is said that there were approximately 5856 rooms aboard the Titanic but the exact number is impossible to determine. This is because many of the cabins, especially in third class, were built with retractable walls that could accommodate either a single person or a whole family. The Titanic was built with 10 decks. Each deck had 3 types of passenger cabins for a total 2,389 cabins: 689 first class, 674 second class, and 1,026 third class. there were also smoking rooms, dining rooms, and other event rooms aboard the marvelous ship.
Good grief, NO! They weren't even invented then.. This is early, early 1900's, keep in mind...

3-8
The longest and widest room on the Titanic was the First Class Dining Saloon located on D Deck just aft of the Grand Staircase. It could hold 500 passengers and spread the width of the entire ship. The Tallest room however, was the Reciprocating Engine Room located on the Orlop Deck between funnels No. 3 & 4. This room rose several stories all the way up to E Deck from the bottom of the ship.
