It depends on the idividual. At a minimum, the average person's body burns about 1,000 calories a day just to survive. More activity (ranging from a desk job to active sports) then burns more calories accordingly.

There is no exact number. The amount of calories needed daily vaires based on a number of facts, like age, activity level, what type of foods are being eaten, metabolism, body type, weight, and many other factors.

Men do tend to burn slightly more calories a day than women do, however. This is because men are usually taller and built heavier than most women are.

It depends on the person. Some people are sedidentary (lazy), and burn few calories per day. Other people are very active and burn more calories per day. Also, body type comes into play. A person who is tall and muscular naturally burns more calories a day to support his or her body than someone who is small and fat does.
