Craisins are sweetened dried cranberries. They are a popular snack or ingredient in salads, baked goods, and trail mixes. Craisins offer a chewy texture and a sweet-tart flavor.
Craisins are dried cranberries, and are made by dehydrating (removing water by drying) cranberries. You could make your own dried cranberries in a food dehydrator, or you could buy them but the only ones that would be called craisins would be those sold by Ocean Spray, because they have a registered trademark for the name craisin.
Fresh raisins and cranberries would be better.

Cran- Fruit for cran-raspberry jello. I made it myself since they have discontinued cran-fruit. I used three-fourths of 12 oz pkg of craisins (dried cranberries) and 2 med oranges. Chopped in handy electric chopper. Must mix oranges with craisins while chopping need the moisture. Sweetened with 1/4 c. sugar. Will probably add a little more sugar next time. Next time will also add raspberries. But for my first time it was perfect everyone said was best I ever made. It made 2 c. which I use with 2-6 oz pkgs of jello. I have been trying to duplicate cran-fruit for years and I just got a brain storm to use the dried cranberries and that is the key. Enjoy everyone.
well they CAN possibly seek out oes.org wherein it says.." Cranberries are high in Vitamin C. I gave them daily (craisins) the dried version. The blogger Marianne states " I also belong to Small Animal Rescue and they highly recommend giving cranberries...." Note also some holistic dog foods such as Solid Gold Dog Food has cranberries as an ingredient. So, the answer is YES, they are healthy, and they arent toxic like grapes or regular raisins, and serve as an antioxident for dogs.
It depends on who makes them, but normally the craisins are just soaked in an orange juice concentrate before being dried.
I've read that they are great for the kidneys. Also to quote from its Wikipedia page "Dried cranberries contain the same nutrients as fresh cranberries (notably dietary fiber and antioxidants). However, commercial drying processes substantially reduces the amount of vitamin A andvitamin C. The nutrient density is also reduced if sugar is added. Cranberries also have an anti-adhesion quality that keeps certain bacteria from sticking to cells in the urinary tract, the mouth and stomach. They reduce the occurrence of urinary tract infections."
That's a good question. If you started eating just craisins, than no its not. If you add craisins to something you eat daily, than your adding not subtracting. You still need to eat 3 fruits and vegetables daily and small amount of starch. Also, a measurable amount of poultry. The final answer is that its healthy if you add it and keep the other important things in your diet in addition to the craisins. So yes craisins are a good form of diet if you keep eating other healthy things with it.
