Man has collected honey from wild bees for many tens of thousands of years. It is not known exactly how long, but there are cave paintings dated more than 10,000 years old of men collecting honey.
Again, it is not known exactly when man started keeping bees in artificial hives, but the ancient Egyptians were known to do so, as were the ancient Greeks and the Romans.
Bees don't make candles but beekeepers sometimes do.
It could be said the bees in beekeepers' hives have been domesticated, but that's not really true. Bees are very much creatures of instinct and they react to stimuli, but they don't have the brain power to reason and they almost certainly don't recognize the beekeeper as 'their owner'.Beekeepers learn to manipulate the bees' environment to make the bees do what is wanted. This usually works, but not always -- there are many books about beekeeping, but the bees can't read so don't always do what is expected.Even in law, bees are classified as wild animals, not farm stock or domestic. And they don't make good pets!
That's just a superstition. Most beekeepers I know handle many thousands of bees, and live to a ripe old age.
The alternative name for somebody who keeps bees is an apiarist - derived from the Latin name for the bee: Apis. Bee breeding is something that many beekeepers facilitate or try and control one way or another but, apart from those who artificially inseminate bees under a microscope, we leave the important stuff to the bees.
No the stinger is not left in the skin from Wasps or Hornets. They just sting you and pull it out. Only Honey Bees leave a stinger in you. My family are beekeepers so I have been stung by many bees but since honey bees die when they loose their stinger they don't sting unless they feel threatened.
There are many books on beekeeping which will tell you about bees, or you could search on the internet. However, probably the best way would be to contact your local beekeeping association or a local beekeeper and talk to them. If you are thinking of keeping bees, then contact with other beekeepers is essential because, although it isn't difficult, there is a lot to learn and if you try to 'go it alone' you will probably find that you won't have your bees for very long.

56749283920 At the height of Summer in the UK there can be 60,000 bees in a single colony. In fact numbers as high as 80,000 are being claimed by some beekeepers for certain prolific strains of bee (specifically the Italian bee).
Mesquite honey is made by bees. Apiculturists place bee hives in areas with many mesquite trees and the bees do all the work. The bees drink nectar from the mesquite flowers and use it to make their honey. Man only has to harvest the honey at the end on the season.
