In the United States, you must complete at least four years of college and earn a Bachelor's degree. However, many school districts and states are starting to require that teacher's complete a Master's degree within a set number of years after being hired.
In addition, throughout their careers, teachers must complete ongoing continuing education (which may be through college classes) to maintain their teaching licenses.

∙ 14y agoIts not about how may years you have to go to college. Its about having a degree and a license from the state. All states require teachers have at least a bachelors degree in teaching or in there content area. All states also require a training or ceritification program where the cannidate goes through a training period like student teaching.
