It depends on how much you use of the other ingredients. The Wikibooks Cookbook says:

  • � pound Flour
  • � pound Butter
  • � pound Eggs (4 eggs)
  • � pound Sugar
  • � pound assorted dried fruit (Currants, Sultanas, and Raisins, with perhaps a lesser quantity of Glac� cherries).

The traditional recipe doubled the quantities above, and eliminated the fruit. The name comes from the fact that it used a pound each of sugar, flour, butter and eggs. Happy baking.
