The English Separatists known as Pilgrims had planned to depart from England and the Netherlands on August, originally with two ships, The Mayflower and the Speedwell. The Speedwell however, would leak constantly and forced them to make a stop in Plymouth and delayed the voyage all the way until September where the crew had decided to only take one boat, the Mayflower. Finally they departed on September 6th, 1620 from Plymouth to America. The passengers had already been living on the boat for over a month by the time they set sail. They intended to arrive at the Hudson River where present day New York is, but the sea storms and diseases that were raiding the ship cut the journey short. They arrived at the first piece of land they saw on November 9th, 1620, which was Cape Cod. This finally ended their 65 day voyage.
