Straight Flush - a hand that has five cards in sequence. It also has the identical suit/shape.
Four of a Kind - also known as quads; a hand that has four cards of the same rank.
Full House - also known as full boat; a hand that has three of the same rank and two matching of the other rank.
Flush - a hand that has identical suits and not in sequence.
Straight - a hand that is in sequential order but not in same suit.
Three of a Kind - also known as trips, set or prile; a hand that has three cards of the same rank with two different cards
Two Pair - a hand that has two cards of the same rank and another set of two cards on another rank with one unmatched card.
One Pair - a hand that has two cards of the same rank with three unmatched cards.

∙ 14y agoThere are 14 effective ranks of cards for a straight (ace can be high or low). The straight can start on any one of A,K,J,Q,T,9,8,7,6,5 and go down. That makes 10 base straight sequences. Each card in the sequence can be any of the four suits. So the total number of straights is 10 * 4 ^5 = 10240.
40 of those are a straight flush.

∙ 11y agoThere are a total of 12 face cards, 3 of different types(Jack, Queen, King) and each with 4 suits. 4*3 = 12.
You are choosing 5 cards from these 12 so you are left with 12C5 = 12!/5!*(6!) = 792 hands.
This is based on the general formula nCr = n!/(r!*(n-r)!).

No, poker can not possibly be made into a board game unless you changed almost every rule, such as not using cards, or having pairs, straights, flushes and so on. It would be a whole new game. ___________ There are solitaire games that use poker rules for hands, where you lay your cards out on a flat surface as they come and then total each row and column to see what the best poker hands are. You could make that game into a board game fairly easily.
