If you include the mouth, then about three. First the food goes into the mouth. Then it travels down the esophagus into the stomach. Next it travels to the small intestine, where the nutrients are digested. Finally, it goes the large intestine to be "processed for removal"

Cattle are ruminants, and have a 4 compartment stomach consisting of the reticulum, rumen, omasum and abomasum. The last compartment, the abomasum, secretes stomach acid and is the most like a human's stomach.
Your question asked about digestive compartments, so I assume you meant "stomachs". In addition, the rest of the digestive system also helps the animals get nutrients and energy from their food. In both cattle and horses digestion does not stop when food leaves the stomach...the small intestine, large intestine and cecum also aid in digestion and/or absorption of nutrients.
