Flowers stay alive through a process called Transpiration. That means the water flows up through the flower and evaporates from the leaves. When the water evaporates it will leave food coloring behind, thus dying the petals. So, take a cup of warm water and add about 30-40 drops of food coloring (Wilton dyes are much strong and prefered, but more expensive) Cut the flowers to the desired length and fray the bottom slightly to expose the xylem tubes (what sucks the water up). The whole process takes about 24 hours. The flowers will not get darker past this time frame. Daisies will color completely while carnations will have a veiny effect and the petals will have some white remaining.
It can change color when the food dye is in the water the flower soaks up the water and food dye at the same time because the food dye was put in the water.
about 10 drops of food coloring should be enough if you what to see the diffrence by the Morning
I read that usually it takes either a minimum of, or around 2 minutes.
yes it can but might not stay alive long
The food dye goes up into the stem of the flower and moves into the system of making the color, creating a different color besides the white on the petals!
nothing!
The resulting color will be a lighter version of the saffron color. It will not change the hue at all. It will change the shade of the color.
If you talking about the scrim or large piece of fabric, they usually change the color using lights focused on the cloth. If the cloth is white, it'll take on the color of the light.
Red/White/Blue
Yes, the color of the flower will change, it will be better to use a white flower for this experiment because its easier to tell if it changed.
No. Colored sodas do not change the color of a white flower. Any soda can makes the flower die because sodas have acid and sugar which can make a flower die.
try food coloring in the water.
White & Purple :)
A white-creamy color.
White flowers will change color if dyes are added to the water because the flower will absorb the dye with water through the stem.
The flower probably dies...
