There are too many covers to count. Each country typically releases the book with their own cover. In the UK, the original editions had both an adult and children's cover. As the book has now been out for over ten years, it has been 're-released' with different covers, special editions, box-set editions, anniversary editions etc.
This question is impossible to answer. In the past hundred and forty five odd years since the book was published, editions have been released by numerous publishers in dozens of languages, of which, there are apt to be multiple editions. No database exists to collate this information, and there is no way to know how many there have been.
