That would totally depend on the breed and age of the hen.
Chickens lay on average 5 to 6 eggs a week, but less in the winter when the daylight is less.
Well, how many cross the road?
Battery chickens, the chickens used in egg production, are kept in battery cages. These are tiny cages with very little room for the chicken. They are kept in conditions that would shock most people who eat their eggs. Bright, artificial lights are used to simulate daylight, to make them lay more than they would in natural conditions. They can barely move in their cages, are kept separate from other chickens, and do not have freedom or any kind of natural conditions to live in. Free-range eggs are eggs from free-range chickens, chickens kept in natural conditions- normal lighting, better food, and room to move around. While battery chickens produce more eggs per chicken with less room, the chickens themselves need better care than that, or so many people think.
Chickens eat bugs on the ground if they are free range. Many chickens are living off of a grain as chicken feed.
The most obvious problem would be failure to find the eggs in good time. Free range hens often lay eggs that are hidden away in various locations. If those eggs are not collected in a timely manner, the weather is hot and humid, the eggs could "spoil" If you go on an egg "hunt" every few days some of the eggs you find could be many days old by the time you locate them. Another possible reason would be poor nutrition. If the hen is missing nutrients such as calcium etc. then the eggs could be malformed. Always offer free range hens a good quality feed in the same location daily and they will supplement that with whatever they can scratch up.
There is no official count as to how many chickens are in the UK. However, there are most likely millions of chickens for food and for the eggs.

In many countries it is normal to see chickens running around free to search for food. It would be impossible to verify which country actually has the most free range chickens. Rural China might be one as well as a few South American countries or Mexico.
A half dozen, whether chickens or eggs, will always be 6.
Eggs come from many parts of England. There is no single location for farms, free range or otherwise.
Chocolate chickens don't lay eggs.
