The New International Version is a completely newtranslation of the Holy Bible made by over a hundred scholarsworking directly from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic and Greektexts. It had its beginning in 1965 when, after several years ofexploratory study by committees from the Christian Reforme…d Churchand the National Association of Evangelicals, a group of scholarsmet at Palos Heights, Illinois, and concurred in the need for a newtranslation of the Bible in contemporary English. In the NIV bible it is mentioned 31 times throughout the book of proverbs. Most of them are in chapters 11, 12, and 13.
NIV is a translation of the Bible. "New International Version" It is one of the most popular versions and very easy to read.
No translation of any of the scriptures from the original manuscripts into other languages is without flaws of one sort or other. The NIV is one of the better modern translations into the English language... although it is always a good idea when studying the Bible, to compare different translation…s with one another as well as certain other scholarly sources for the best understanding of the "inspired" scriptures. While different Bible translations are accepted by some and not by others... actual "perversion" of the scriptures would be a tough one to pass onto the public without a resounding outcry of "foul!" An indepth study of God's Word in the end is a certain matter of "digging" and scraping on the part of the reader ["...here a little, and there a little..." - Isa.28:10] -- but always and without exception; the reader's "asking," "praying" and "trusting" in God to reveal the Truth of His Word to the heart and mind [the human spirit] is at the core of its understanding. The preservation of God's Word has always been in His loving hands through the calling of dedicated men... and it has withstood the centuries of Satan's attempts to pervert it beyond recognition. And unless the earliest manuscripts should totally disappear... all past, present and future translations of the Bible may be verified through diligent study of them. To date, the NIV remains one of the better modern English translations of the Bible [but, not without its flaws]. God has preserved His Word for man... and has been calling some men to know and understand it since the beginning. No perverse teachings of what some carnal minded men might derive from the Word of God can subvert God's Truth in the hearts of those whom God is calling. These "called-out-ones" of God "continue in His Word" [John 8:31-32], know His Word and study it [something that the vast majority of modern professing Christians do not do]. The NIV Bible isn't perverted... but what some men [or spirits] derive, misapply, and teach others from their reading of it can be. It's these teachings that twist and pervert what has been written that are "antichrist" [against the teachings of Christ]. Even Satan knows what is written: "For it is written, 'He will command His angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'" (Luke 4:10-11 NIV; Ps.91:11-12) The translation of the scripture isn't the real issue... the application of it is: "Jesus answered, 'It says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test." (verse 12; Deut.6:16) It's man's slumbering spirit... his carnal mind... unawakened by the call of God, that fails to understand it, believe it, trust it [regardless of the translated version] and perverts God's Divinely-preserved Word. "...test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. " This is the spirit of the antichrist , which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. "You, dear Children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world , and the world listens to them. "We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of falsehood." (I John 4:1-6 NIV) The perversion of the scriptures... and/or failure to recognize Christ... is determined by "God's calling" and the presence or absence of His Spirit in the heart of the inspired or uninspired reader of the scriptures -- not in a particular Bible version. Great heavens, no. The Catholic Bible is based on the Septuagint for the Old Testament - that is the Greek translation of the Bible that was used by nearly all Jews for over 400 years, and was the version used by Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ. The New Testament is based on the Greek and Latin versi…ons of the New Testament as accepted by the Church at the end of the fourth century A.D. . The NIV Bible is based on Martin Luther's truncated Bible in which he threw out seven books of the Old Testament and took his Old Testament translation from the Masoretic text that the Jews formulated a century after Christ died when they were trying to deny Christianity. The New Testament tends to favor translations of various texts that favor a protestant understanding of Christianity. ( Full Answer )

This question has some layers to it. Sometimes the concept of hellis confused with some other concepts, namely the word "Hades,"which is not the "hell" that we think of as the ultimate judgementplace, or, put crudely, the place that has "fire" in it. Here's a simple run through of the the terms: in… the Old Testament,a Hebrew word called "Sheol" was frequently used to mean, basically, the realm that people go to when they die. It's notheaven, it's not the hell of judgement that Jesus warns about. In the New Testament, translators would often use the word "Hades"to mean a place where the dead go, not to judgement or to reward, but just a place they go after death to wait. So, basically, Sheoland Hades represent the same basic idea- in scripture. The word"Hades" was borrowed from Greek folks to describe a Hebrew idea, basically. Okay, so then there's the term "hell" that refers to a place ofjudgement, the place that most people tend to think of as "fiery,"etc. This is found about 15 times in the NIV New Testament (by myquick count). The word that we usually translate as "hell" is theword "Gehenna," and it was used often by Jesus to give an idea toHis followers about what the future place of judgement would belike. You can find this in Matthew 5:22,29,30; 10:28; 18:9;23:15,33; Mark 9:43,15,47; Luke 12:5; James 3:6. The reason that Jesus probably said "Gehenna" to people to describethe place of judgement for those who rejected God is becauseGehenna is a valley where idolatrous worship and evil practicestook place (2 Chron. 28:3) that Israel's king later destroyed (2Kings 23:10). After it was laid to waste, people basically wouldthrow the nastiest bits of their garbage into it, so it was apretty awful, unclean place. That's probably why Jesus uses it as ametaphor to describe an scary place where the unclean things go. Wetend to translate the word as "hell" instead of "Gehenna." ( Full Answer )
