There are far too many to mention. All year, all around Ireland there are festivals and other major events. As I type this, this weekend sees the biggest sporting event in Ireland: The All-Ireland Football Final, to be played on Sunday, September 20th 2009. October sees the annual Jazz Festival in Cork, and the Wexford Opera Festival. There are many arts festivals in Ireland, most notably the Galway Arts Festival each summer. Spraoi in Waterford is another one. There is the Festival of Kerry in Tralee in August, better known as the Rose of Tralee Festival. There are many music festivals like Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. There are many race horsing festivals like The Galway Races and The Punchestown Festival. There are some unusual ones like the Festival of Word Cultures in Dún Laoghaire, which is in August. On St. Patrick's Day there are parades in cities, towns and villages all around the country. There is a St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin which runs for several days around that time. There are many film festivals, literature festivals and a whole range of other festivals throughout the year. I could go on, as there are lots of others too. If you visit Ireland at any time, but especially during the summer months, there are always festivals of one sort of another happening somewhere.
