Depends on your frquent flyer program- varies airline to airline. I do make that trip frequently, and like to take my wife when I can. The published number is 25.000 miles for many airlines- but there are never seats avaialble. However, for 50,000 miles, seats are available. Check with YOUR airline.

There isn't a good way to sell your flyer miles to someone. I suppose you can redeem your miles for a ticket in a person name and that person can then pay you for it.
