This all depends on the game. For FireRed and Leafgreen - either insert a Wireless Adapter - or link up cable to both games. For Emerald it is the same. For Diamond and Pearl you just go to a trading center for those two games since there is an adapter built in to the Nintendo DS system that is needed for these two games. Currently there is not a way to trade Diamond or Pearl games to GBA games. You can however migrate Pokemon from GBA games ( after you have received the National Pokedex) to Diamond or Pearl.
