That's determined by the manufacturer. These days, a "small" hard drive is 160 GB, while a large one may be 2 terabytes; 2048 gigabytes. Within a few years, there will be petabyte drives available; 1024 terabytes!

There are many memory sticks available to us these day. Many people like to get the ones that hold a smaller amount of gigabytes, but there are many more options available to us. The largest memory stick available right now holds 256 gigabytes.
Because when the hard drive is formatted it has less than its original capacity, same as on a PC or Mac hard drive.
On any computer (Mac or PC) to convert GB to MB simply multiply GB by 1024 and that is how many MB you have.

you need to have a nice 6.1 GB on your hard drive with at least 1 extra GB for custom content and saved games so you're looking at 7 GB for PC and Mac.
