Yes Canada does have firearm laws. Canadians can own both long rifles and handguns. Although Handguns are a restricted weapon and generally can only transported directly from you house to a registered hand gun range.

Rifles and shoot guns are much more widley owened. Hunting and target shooting are widley enjoyed. Unlike the USA Canadians however are not allowed by law to keep loaded weapons on their person or in their home for personal protection.
