Let's see...there's Paul and John...I'd say Phil but I saw him jaywalking across Central Ave so I guess he's out. There's Sally and Sue who are actually hookers, but yesterday they were on vacation so technically they didn't commit any crime yesterday. There's Mike who everybody calls by the book Mike, so it's pretty certain he didn't commit any crime yesterday. You know the more I think about this, I'm not really sure I can give an accurate answer on this as I don't know all gun owners, and even if I did how could possibly know how many of them committed crimes yesterday? Maybe we could narrow this question down to how many murderers that own guns and murdered somebody yesterday did not commit a crime yesterday. That would be easy as the answer would be a big fat zero. Are most gun owners as a general rule law abiding citizens? I believe the answer to that would be yes. Are gun owners a threat to society? I am certain the answer to that is no. Are guns a threat to people? The answer to that is most emphatically yes. Guns were invented to kill other people or other living creatures. This is the purpose of owning a gun, to use it to kill others if need be. Is that a crime? No. Can someone take that intent and commit a crime? Yes. Do most owners do this? No.

According to the scholar victims precipate as many percentof all homicides?

Victims precipitate 0% of all homicides. The decision to commit the crime is still made by the perpetrator and always precipitated by that person. No matter how dumb, naive, careless, greedy, or even guilty of a crime the victim may be, the person who decides to commit the crime against them is still the perpetrator and the person who was subject to the crime is still the victim. The percentage of occurrence that the perpetrator is the only victim of their own crime is negligible, and that person is still the perpetrator.
