Harvest Festival is a celebration and thanksgiving that the year's harvest has been safely gathered in. The corn (or wheat) crop that has been harvested will provide us with bread, and other foods made from flour, until the next crop is harvested a year later. The sheaf of wheat that we see in our place of worship represents the whole of the crop that was gathered and we stand it there in pride of place to thank the deity that we praise.
