47 States have laws against bullying and New Jersey is the leader of all of them. AnnieFox.com has launched the anti bullying compaign 'Cruel's not cool' and it can be found on FaceBook. The six States that do not currently have anti bullying laws in place are Hawaii; South Dakota; Michigan; New York; Montana; North Dakota and Missouri. With 47 States on the band wagon against bullying these six States will certainly follow. Teachers; parents; teens and the police are cracking down hard on bullying and it's about time! Unfortunately it takes many suicides of young people (even some in elementary school) to make people stand up and listen and do something about it.
Bullying is NOT just hurting your friend's feelings. It is an imbalance of power between two people. The bully has learned by watching some members of his/her family. It is a completely inappropriate way of dealing with a difference of opinion. It can take many different forms. There are primarily six different types of bullying. They are 1) Physical, 2) Verbal 3) Indirect, 4) Social alienation 5) Intimidation and 6) Cyberbullying. I provide a detailed description of each one of these in my book "My Do's and Dont's For Bully-Proofing Your Child." You can find my book on Amazon or Facebook.
