As of 2009, since the conception of the UDTs and the SEAL teams, there have been less than 11,000 sailors who have served with the teams. Approximately 2,400 of these SEALs are still on active duty today. The exact number is classified for security reasons, but it usually fluctuates around this number as experienced SEALs retire or are promoted to non-operational positions and new SEALs from BUD/S come in to fill their places.

Spent almost 10 years in the teams, there were only 4 or 5 black operators that I ever saw out of about 2200 men

Only the Navy knows the true ratio and they are beginning to phase out distinguishing races in their paperwork.
