Depends on the time of year. New Zealand observes Daylight Saving Time {DST} while Arizona does not.

During the New Zealand summer (say, Dec/Jan/Feb, etc.)when they are on DST there is a 20 hour time difference between there and Arizona. Examples: 2 AM Thursday in Arizona = 10 PM Thursday in New Zealand. And: 2 PM Thursday in Arizona = 10 AM Friday in New Zealand.

During the New Zealand winter (say, Jun/July/Aug etc.) when they revert to standard time, the time difference becomes 21 hours. You do the math. ;-)

New Zealand (UTC+12/UTC+13) is 19 hours ahead of Arizona (UTC-7) from the 1st Sunday of April to the last Sunday of September and 20 hours ahead during the rest of the year.

Currently (February 2009), New Zealand is on Daylight Savings Time for the summer. It is in the time zone GMT +12 [+ 1 (for DST) ]= GMT DST +13. Japan is on GMT + 9. So, New Zealand is four hours ahead of Japan.

Example: If it were 12:00 pm, noon, in Japan it would be 4:00 pm in New Zealand.
