While technically speaking, Alaska is both the Westernmost and Easternmost US State (The Aleutian Chain of islands extends beyond 180 degrees longitude into the eastern hemisphere), The official International dateline was redrawn in order to keep the entire United States in the same legal day. The far reaches of the Aleutian Chain share the Hawaiian Time Zone making it -5 hours difference from Maine.
The difference is 9 and a half hours.
that's a directional paradox, it would be like driving on a round arount the world and saying "im gonna go to the end of this road" however Augusta Maine is the furthest east in the united states, if that's what you meant.
It is the only state that borders only one other US State.
China is 13 hours ahead of Illinois. See the Related Link.
Alaska is the Northern most state belonging to the United Statesnot counting Alaska, the "highest" are Maine and Washington
I don't know what in is, but the two states would be somethingike Maine and Hawaii or Maine and Alaska.
Alaska is actually the easternmost state in the US. Alaska is the northernmost, westernmost, and easternmost state in the US. It is easternmost because the Aleutian Islands extend past the 180 degree line of longitude, putting them in the Eastern hemisphere, which makes it the easternmost state in the United States. The easternmost of the lower 48 states is Maine.
Alaska is both the northernmost and the easternmost state in the US. The Aleutian Islands are part of Alaska. Attu is the westernmost island in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. The 180th meridian (the International Date Line) crosses the Aleutian Islands. Attu is on the opposite side of the 180° longitude line and is in the Eastern Hemisphere. Therefore Attu is the easternmost area in the U.S.
Florida, Maine, and Alaska
Alaska is far bigger than Maine.

Alaska
Alaska. Being the Northernmost state should be no surprise. Being the Westernmost state shouldn't be too hard : a map will show that the state extends all the way to the International Date Line, farther West than Hawaii. However, the most surprising part is that (by one definition), it is also the Easternmost state. The Aleutian Islands, which are part of Alaska, cross the 180 degree meridian. Therefore, they are the farthest East as well. (see link)
