RAF Bomber Command lost over 55,000 men killed in action in World War 2. As stated above some 55,000 members of Bomber Command were killed in action. Their average age was 22 years old. Also approximately 10,000 were taken prisoner. In all RAF Commands 20,389 airmen and women killed in the Second World War have no known grave but each is listed by name on the Royal Air Force Memorial at Runnymede.
