There are no foxes in Aotearoa.
Kiwi birds are an endangered species. Many years ago the Maori occassionally killed the bird for its feathers which were valued for cloak making. The Maori now see themselves as guardians of the kiwi bird however. Kiwis are not killed for any reason that I know of.
We have many types of Kiwis, two bats, a litte owl cald a morpork and a nocturnal parot called a Kakapo. Also hedgehogs, possums, mice and rats have been imported.
Yes. Kiwi are losing their habitat for a number of reasons. As one example, possums, which have been introduced from Australia, have taken over native forests, pushing out native species of birds, including the kiwi. Possums disrupt the food supplies, feeding on insects and fruit which the kiwi eats. Also, clearing of habitat for the purposes of agriculture and the expansion of populated alas has resulted in destruction of the kiwis' habitat.
Possums generally have a single joey at a time.

Brushtailed possums are common in both rural and suburban areas. In their natural wild habitat, predators are eagles, hawks, owls and quolls. Foxes, which have been introduced to Australia, are also predators of Brushtailed possums. In suburban areas, possums are commonly chased and killed by domestic dogs.
Possums are generally not regarded as predators. There are some species of possums which are omnivorous, eating bth plant parts and insects, but many species are herbivorous.
Kiwi fruit can be eaten by a variety of animals, including birds like kiwi birds, as well as insects, rodents, and even some larger mammals like possums and deer. These animals are attracted to the sweet and juicy fruit of the kiwi plant.
