There are five basic layers of the Earth, being the crust, upper mantle, inner mantle, outer core, and inner core. Of these, the lithosphere is composed of the crust and upper mantle, and the asthenosphere is part of the mantle, below the lithosphere.

Sorry, but there are only three layers of the Earth, the crust, mantle, and the core. The 8 layers you are referring to are the crust, mantle, lithosphere, asthenosphere, lower mantle, core, outer core, inner core. That doesn't even make sense, because you probably counted the mantle and the three layers that's categorized and the core and the two different layers OF the core. So it's just 3 layers, scientists separated the mantle into three layers and the core into two layers because of their characteristics meaning that they were different. It was just to make it easier to understand.

The crust is 5-70 kilometers thick, depending on where the locations is.

Mantle is about 3,000 kilometers thick.

The core is 3,486 kilometers thick.

How long will the ozone layer last?

The magic 8 ball says: "My sources say No." No one knows where that particular "feature" is going. The record largest ozone hole was 2007, and the ozone hole for 2008 was not much smaller. The amount of UV-B that arrives at Earth's surface varies by year, and by 11 year solar cycle. Effects that are believed to be closely tied to the amount of UV-B that arrives on Earth's surface show a long-term upward trend. Plants absorb water vapor, and produce oxygen. What we do to plants, we do to the ozone layer (as much as we do anything to the ozone layer).

Can Google Earth be downloaded on Windows 8?

Google Earth can be downloaded on Windows 8 but more important question is whether it will run on Window 8. In most situations Google Earth will run on Windows 8 but there are some reports of users with problems running on Windows 8 so best to try to install GE and see if it works correctly or not. Note that Google has not officially listed Windows 8 as a supported platform for running Google Earth. If the normal download page fails to download Google Earth then try the direct download page (found in the related links below). Also at present Google Earth is a 32-bit application so it doesn't take advantage of the all the computers memory. 32-bit apps are limited to 2 GB of memory. A future release of Google Earth v7 will most likely be more stable on Window 8 at which time Google will officially announce Windows 8 is supported

What 2 minerals make up most of the Earth's crust?

Even though there are 92 elements that are naturally found, only eight of them are common in the rocks that make up the Earth's outer layer, the crust. Together, these 8 elements make up more than 98% of the crust. The 8 most common elements in Earth's crust (by mass): 46.6% Oxygen (O) 27.7% Silicon (Si) 8.1% Aluminum (Al) 5.0% Iron (Fe) 3.6% Calcium (Ca) 2.8% Sodium (Na) 2.6% Potassium (K) 2.1% Magnesium
