Poseidon, the god of the sea, and Medusa used to be together. At this time, Medusa was a very lovely young woman. One day, they made the mistake of making love in Athena's sacred temple. Athena walked in on them, and she grew incredibly pissed -- not only was Poseidon having sex in her temple, but she hated Poseidon already. She took her fury out on Medusa, turning her -- and her two sisters, for some reason -- into Gorgons.
