How many levels are in village defense?

There are 99 levels. Seems like forever. :)

Some tips:

Set several robbers at the start of the path, this will net you a good deal of extra gold when creeps come through you can rob.

To get the high level gun and chainsaw dude you need 1 of every possible combination of that type of "tower". Not just one upgrade path but one of every upgrade path. A lot of people get frustrated because this is never explained.

The highest level machine gun is the best weapon but it'll cost you a total of 17,500 to upgrade to that. The chainsaw isn't all that useful.

Shotguns seem to be the best defense against those fast moving creeps (I think they're the banshees but I'm not totally sure, you'll know them when you encounter them).

Path based defenses come in handy near the end, the holy symbol slows a lot of them down so that's good to know.
