Why does methane burn away but metals leave an ash?

The products of the complete combustion of methane are water vapor and carbon dioxide, which are gasses. Burning metals will form metal oxides, which are solid.

What gases are contained in the products of incomplete combustion?

Incomplete combustion means burning in a lack of air (not enough oxygen). If there is not enough oxygen available for all the carbon to turn into carbon dioxide (complete combustion), then some or all of the carbon turns to carbon monoxide. This happens with any hydrocarbon - we shall take methane as an example. During incomplete combustion methane gas burns with a yellow flame (unlike the clear blue flame seen in complete combustion). Carbon particles (sooty marks) may also be seen. methane + oxygen carbon monoxide + water. 2CH4(g) + 3O2(g) 2CO(g) + 4H2O(l)

How many liters of water vapor will be produced when 8 liters of ethane gas (C2H10) are burned completely?

Ethane is C2H6.The answer is 24,23 L water vapors (for a density of 0,804 g/cm3).

What are the gasses of the greenhouse?

Ozone, Methane, Water vapor.

Is this reaction Endothermic The combustion of propane in oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water vapor. And does methane or propane produce more energy combustion I just dont understand this?

All the combustion reactions I know of are exothermic because heat is released instead of absorbed. And propane gives more energy than methane cause it has more Cs and Hs to react with Oxygen, so one mole of propane will react more and form more product than one mole of methane and giving out more energy. The reaction for the combustion of methane is?

Reaction of combustion of methane will give off lot of energy. In any combustion reaction there will always be formation of water vapor and heat. Methane + oxygen = combustion reaction.

What molecule do greenhouses produce?

There are five main gases produced by greenhouses: water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

What gas is produced during combustion?

When Oxygen is deficient in the combustion of a hydrocarbon carbon monoxide (CO) will be produced and in severe cases even carbon(S) can be produced.

What is the name of the gas found in the air after methane has been burnt?

If it a complete combustion, there would be only carbon dioxide and water vapor present. Otherwise, carbon monoxide may present too.

What is swamp vapor called?

Swamp vapor, or swamp gas, is methane gas. The methane gas is formed when the organic material in a swamp decays in the absence of air.
