anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks it really depends on what africans your talking about.
A cichlid can not produce young by itself. The moving of rocks and substrata is common behaviour amongst cichlids and does not neccessarilly indicate that spawning is imminent. Cichlids preparing to spawn will move things around until they are satisfied with the result. There is no time limit on this behaviour.
Around 1.5 to 2 years. Also worth noting is the final length is highly dependent upon tank size.
Oh, at least six-eight months, I think. Depending on how well fed they are. Convict fish are very good parents!
Generally, cichlid eggs such as those laid by convicts hatch in three to five days. Convicts are relatively easy fish to breed.

around 3 to 4 hours . Depends what sort of African art you are trying to create. Some pieces might take days.
Most cichlid pairs will look after their young until they get too hard to keep together in a shoal. You will observe the fry dashing away and the parents being driven to distraction as they contiuously round them up.That is the time to remove both adults.
