there probably aren't very many. It would be dangerous if they were to tell anyone that they were in the SS. They probably keep it quite so it's impossible to calculate what it would be. I am just going to guess and say around fifty or one hundred.

because they were
The Schutzstaffel (help·info) (German for "Protective Echelon"), abbreviated SS- or (Runic)- was a major Nazi organization under Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. The SS grew from a small paramilitary unit to a powerful force that served as the Führer's "Praetorian Guard," the Nazi Party's "Shield Squadron" and a force that, fielding almost a million men (both on the front lines and as political police), managed to exert as much political influence as the Wehrmacht.

The SS were the "Schutzstaffel", Hitler's elite paramilitary force during World-War II era Germany. They were the military arm of the Nazi Party. Essentially, they served as the personal army of Hitler and the Nazi Party; under Heinrich Himmler, the SS led many of the atrocities committed by the Nazis. Specifically, the SS were responsible for organizing and executing most of the logistics of the Holocaust

Members of the Gestapo generally operated in civilian clothing but, in occupied areas, often wore SS uniform with police-style (rather than SS) rank insignia. Membership of the Gestapo didn't necessarily mean membership of the SS.
