Cartier made three voyages for France to the North American continent between 1534 and 1542.
he used 3 ships and 61 men
he sailed with over 100 men
The problem was that Cartier lost 50 of his men and the native people taught him how to combat the disease by boiling and drinking the liquid.
Jacques Cartier prepared for winter by establishing a fortified settlement at Stadacona, near present-day Quebec City, where he and his men could take shelter. He stockpiled food supplies, including provisions from local Indigenous peoples, and ensured that they had adequate clothing and equipment to withstand the cold. Cartier also engaged in exploration to gather resources and assess the surrounding environment, aiming to secure the survival of his crew during the harsh winter months.
One conflict was he stole 2 children of chief Donnacona, and took them back to France. Conflict was then created.
he liked to sleep around on the ship with men and then he would eat other people so that he wouldnt starve.
Jacques Cartier did try to make a strong friendship and relationship with the Huron and Iroquois Indians. He also tried to save one of his men from dying of scurvy. All in all, Jacques Cartier was caring for others as well as caring for himself. This man really made a difference for people, butespecially for Europeans. He was the first European explorer to find Canada (Newfoundland) since the Vikings did in 1000 A.D ......... he was a great man after all!~GO CARTIER!!!!!!
